As we prepare to celebrate International Women’s Day tomorrow, it’s a perfect time to reflect on the incredible influence of women in our lives. Their impact often goes unnoticed, yet it shapes our world and personal journeys in profound ways. This day is not just about recognizing their strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit in the face of challenges but also about celebrating their invaluable contributions.

At Walter Code, we’re thrilled to share inspiring stories from our colleagues, highlighting the remarkable lessons they’ve learned from important women in their lives.

Lessons from My Mother:

Let’s start with the woman who often teaches us our most significant lessons: Mom. Despite facing numerous challenges, my mother always prioritized our family’s well-being, sacrificing her comfort for our happiness. Her strength and wisdom, despite lacking formal education, have left an indelible mark on me. From her, I learned the importance of bravery, thoughtful decision-making, and the value of life’s most profound teachings.

The Unstoppable Duo:

In my professional life, I’ve had the privilege of working with two extraordinary colleagues who’ve shown me the true meaning of determination and talent. Their exceptional skills and unwavering drive have not only propelled our team towards success but also served as an inspiration to women everywhere. They’re breaking barriers, overcoming obstacles, and showcasing the power of collaboration and resilience.

The Power of Integrity:

Reflecting on the influential women in my life, I’m reminded of a remarkable individual from my early workdays who embodied integrity. Despite the chaos of busy schedules, she stood firm in her values, never compromising her principles for personal gain. Her message was simple yet profound: authenticity brings true fulfillment, even if it means passing up certain opportunities.

Learning Empowerment and Accountability:

One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned in my career journey comes from a dear colleague who emphasized the significance of empowerment and accountability. Amidst my coding projects, I was confident in my abilities but received less than satisfactory feedback during performance evaluations. Confused, I reached out to my manager for clarity. She helped me realize that true empowerment stems not only from technical skills but also from understanding the impact of our actions and embracing accountability.

Embracing Patience and Grace:

My childhood mentor, a true role model, taught me the virtues of patience and grace. She advised me not to rush into situations and emphasized the importance of elegance and resilience in navigating life’s challenges.

Learning from Mistakes:

A colleague taught me that mistakes at work are opportunities for growth. Initially fearing failure, I soon realized that mistakes are the best teachers, offering valuable insights and lessons that contribute to personal and professional development.

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, let’s not just honor women’s achievements but also acknowledge the profound impact they have on shaping our lives and the world around us. Cheers to the inspiring women in our lives!
